A specialized commission has been created under the Ministry of Defense that will issue certificates of participants in a military operation to fighters of the Wagner PMC, said Anna Tsivileva, chairman of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. According to her, this will help establish a quick and convenient mechanism for fighters to obtain the document.
Mrs. Tsivileva spoke about this at a meeting of social coordinators at the Ural Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration in Yekaterinburg. She clarified that the commission was created on the initiative of the foundation. PMCs and the Ministry of Defense agreed that ready-made certificates would be issued to the fund, and it would then transfer them to coordinators in the branches. “Moreover, the Ministry of Defense decided that those guys who have confirmed wounds and state awards will receive certificates in a simplified mode,” added Anna Tsivileva (quoted by TASS).
She said that this measure would also affect the mothers and wives of the deceased soldiers of the Wagner PMC. The Foundation has already submitted 7.7 thousand applications for certificates of SVO participants for processing by the commission. Previously, President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that all participants in the special operation, without exception, must have veteran status and the required benefits.
On June 23, the founder of the PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accused the Ministry of Defense of attacks on Wagner positions and said that the fighters were going to Moscow to “sort things out.” On the night of June 24, mercenaries occupied the headquarters of the Southern Military District in the center of Rostov-on-Don. The Wagner fighters returned to the field camps after negotiations between Mr. Prigozhin and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. After the mutiny, PMC fighters retreated to Belarus and even conducted joint exercises with the Belarusian military.
On August 23, a private plane Embraer Legacy 600 crashed in the Tver region, carrying Evgeniy Prigozhin. All ten people on board died.
