The Russian military shot down a Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft and a Mi-8 helicopter in the DPR near Kramatorsk, transmits press service of the Ministry of Defense in the Telegram channel.
“Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near the settlement of Orekhovo-Vasilevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Also, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was shot down near the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
In addition, ten drones were shot down in the areas of the settlements of Makeevka, Novovodyanoye, Kremennaya of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Olginka, Volodino, Kuteynikovo, Yasinovataya DPR, as well as Malinovka, Maly Shcherbaki and Pology of the Zaporozhye region.
Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said earlier that at present the main efforts of the Russian troops are focused on the complete liberation of the DPR. He added that the Russian Armed Forces continue to strike at critical objects of the transport and energy infrastructure of Ukraine, as well as at warehouses with ammunition and military equipment.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
