The Ministry of Defense announced a “retaliatory strike” on objects in Odessa – Kommersant

The Russian armed forces, as part of Operation Retribution, attacked facilities in the Odessa region, where unmanned boats were manufactured, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported. As previously reported by the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, the Crimean bridge was attacked with the help of two unmanned surface vehicles.

“Tonight, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered a group strike of retaliation with high-precision sea-based weapons at facilities where terrorist acts against the Russian Federation were being prepared using unmanned boats, as well as at the place of their manufacture at a shipyard near the city of Odessa,” the ministry said.

Yesterday President Vladimir Putin promised “Russia’s response” to the attack on the Crimean bridge. He said that the relevant proposals were being prepared by the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov just said that a proposal to respond to the drone attack on the Crimean bridge is still being developed.

On the night of July 17, the Crimean Bridge was attacked by two unmanned surface vehicles with explosives, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee reported. As a result, one span of the bridge was destroyed, the other received an axial displacement, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. The bridge piers survived. The explosion killed a man and a woman from the Belgorod region, who were driving across the bridge at that moment, their daughter survived, but was wounded.
