Less than a month before the start of the second part of the Russian Football Championship, more than 200,000 Fan IDs were issued in the country. This was stated by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, answering a question from Kommersant. On the same day, February 7, the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation reported that 375 thousand people received Fan ID.
In St. Petersburg, in particular, 18,000 Fan IDs have been issued, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Viktor Kazarin said at the end of January. At the same time, the capacity of the Gazprom Arena is 56,000 people, and the average attendance at home matches of FC Zenit following the results of the first part of the national championship was just over 34,000 people.
“This is a historical stage of our development. We did not discuss a possible drop in income due to innovation with the management of football clubs. On the contrary, I see that in connection with the activities of bookmakers, the income of the Russian Football Union has become more significant. I am sure that the current technical difficulties with Fan ID will be overcome and this will not affect stadium attendance in any way,” said Oleg Matytsin.
