The merchant’s house shone with new colors

In Lyalin Lane, a major overhaul of the house was completed, which was built by order of the merchant P. K. Takke. The author of the project was the architect Sergei Voskresensky.

The merchant did not leave a significant trace in history, so to reveal his initials, you need to spend a lot of effort and hours in the archives. But offhand, we can assume that he is the uncle of the artist Boris Alexandrovich Takke. His father was a merchant of the 2nd guild, and his name was Alexander Kasparovich Takke – note that not only the surname, but also the first letter of the patronymic coincides with the owner of the house in Lyalin Lane.

One can imagine: three years have passed since the end of the February Revolution. Five years – from the signing of the Manifesto “On the Improvement of the State Order” by Emperor Nicholas II – freedom of speech, assembly, conscience, inviolability of the person and the restriction of royal power. Well, now, 110 years after its construction, the building has undergone a major overhaul.

“This building is an ornament of the Basmanny District,” said Vladimir Kozhichenkov, Deputy Director General of the Capital Repair Fund. – We have developed a unique project for the work, which took into account all the nuances of the ancient object. We have selected the most appropriate modern materials and technologies.

For the convenience of residents, the work on the facade was divided into several stages. The planes were cleaned of accumulated dirt and treated with an antifungal solution. Then they repaired the brickwork, filled the seams, which weathered from time to time. At the end, the facade was covered with a fresh layer of plaster and paint. The basement of the building was tiled.

In general, the color scheme of the building has been preserved – it now looks exactly the same as it did then, between the two revolutions.
