The Central Election Commission refused to register Boris Nadezhdin as a presidential candidate on February 8. The CEC commission made a unanimous decision. The basis for the refusal was invalid signatures: based on the results of the audit, the Central Election Commission recognized 9,147 signatures as invalid, and 95,587 signatures as valid. Boris Nadezhdin called the candidate’s refusal by the Central Election Commission expected.

The CEC has already completed the registration of candidates and approved newsletter. For the first time since 2008, there are only four candidates on the ballot: Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (KPRF), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and self-nominated Vladimir Putin.
