Fontanka: the meeting with Putin was postponed until the end of January due to coronavirus and a difficult schedule

“Fontanka” reports, that the publication became aware of the reasons “why they actually postponed the meeting” with Vladimir Putin on the development of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. Earlier it became known that the event scheduled for December 26 postponed until the end of January. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the reason was the complexity of the topic and the need for additional consultations.

Fontanka claims that there were two reasons for the transfer. The first, as the publication says, was the “complicated schedule of the head of state,” since Putin had recently participated in an informal summit of CIS leaders. At the same time, the publication emphasizes that despite the workload, Putin could still participate in the meeting if not for the second reason.

According to the publication’s sources, “one of the supposed key participants in the meeting” tested positive for coronavirus.

“If anyone is worried about the health of the president or governor of St. Petersburg,” the article notes, “Fontanka urges not to worry, this is not about them.”
