Strelkov’s supporters were unable to register the initiative group for his nomination

The initiative group to nominate former FSB officer and ex-Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov (Girkin) for the presidency of Russia was unable to provide the Central Election Commission (CEC) with all the documents necessary for registration. The reason was the absence of the signature of Igor Strelkov himself in the documents, who is now under arrest in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.
How reported “Russian Strelkov Movement” (created in support of the former Minister of Defense of the DPR after his arrest), the meeting of the initiative group was held on December 24. According to the organizers, 556 people took part in it. All of them unanimously supported the nomination of Igor Strelkov as a candidate in the 2024 presidential elections.
To confirm the authenticity of the documents, Igor Strelkov, even before the meeting of the initiative group – on December 14 – submitted a petition for permission to meet with a notary. However, according to the Russian Strelkov Movement, by December 27, a decision had not been made on the petition.
“Based on the above, we notify everyone that it is not possible to submit to the Central Election Commission a petition for registration of a group of voters created to support the self-nomination of the candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation, Igor Vsevolodovich Girkin, certified by his signature,” says the message of the Russian Strelkov Movement on Telegram. The initiative group sent a request to the Central Election Commission with a proposal to “explain the procedure for exercising the right of a citizen of the Russian Federation to be elected to the position of President of the Russian Federation.”
Igor Strelkov has been under arrest since July 2023. He is accused of publicly calling for extremist activities in connection with posts on social networks. Blame Igor Girkin do not recognize.
