Members of the government of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are involved in the murder of journalist Daria Dugina, Western officials say. About it informed newspaper The Washington Post, citing secret documents leaked to the network.
Western officials viewed Dugina’s murder as a provocation and made it clear to Zelensky that they held high-ranking officials in his government responsible for this, the newspaper writes.
The fact that US intelligence agencies believe that Ukrainian government officials are behind the murder of political scientist and journalist Daria Dugina, wrote The New York Times last fall. According to the newspaper, American officials did not know about the preparation of the assassination, did not provide Kyiv with any intelligence or offer any other assistance on this issue. They also stated that they would oppose the assassination if they were consulted by the Ukrainian side.
Daria Dugina, daughter of the philosopher and publicist Alexander Dugin, died on August 20, 2022, when she was returning in her father’s car from the Tradition festival. The SUV the journalist was in exploded and caught fire.
On August 22, the Russian FSB announced the disclosure of the murder and accused the Ukrainian special services of being involved in it. According to the FSB, the crime was committed by Ukrainian citizen Natalia Vovk. After the murder, she left Russia, leaving through the Pskov region to Estonia. Later, the FSB named another person involved in the murder of Dugina – a citizen of Ukraine, Bohdan Tsyganenko. On November 2, a court in Moscow arrested Natalya Vovk in absentia.
According to investigators, in August 2022, another defendant, Andrey Kuznetsov and Alexander Suchkov, in the city of Aramil, Sverdlovsk Region, produced an electronic template of a vehicle registration certificate for a Mini Cooper car, on which Vovk traveled. It is specified that this document was subsequently used to facilitate the murder of Dugina.
On April 3, Kuznetsov and Suchkov partially pleaded guilty to making a forged car registration document.
