Israel agreed to introduce a ceasefire in the south of the Gaza Strip, and from 09:00 local time (coinciding with Moscow time) the Rafah checkpoint was opened on the border of the Gaza Strip and Egypt. About it reported Al Arabiya TV channel.
“Israel has agreed to a five-hour ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza and allow foreigners to leave,” it said.
It is clarified that through the Rafah checkpoint, Gaza civilians will be able to leave the region. In addition, more than a hundred trucks with humanitarian aid will be able to enter the Gaza Strip within a specified period of time.
On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas began military operations against Israel. On that day, Hamas militants attacked the army’s border units and freely entered Israeli populated areas, where they captured an unknown number of hostages from among both military and civilians. Earlier, an IDF spokesman said that Hamas held 155 people hostage.
October 15 Israel opened humanitarian corridor. The IDF suspended shelling of the Salah al-Din highway from 10:00 to 13:00 local time (the same as Moscow time) for the passage of the population. On the same day, Israeli authorities resumed supply of water to the Gaza Strip after agreeing on the issue with the United States.
According to the latest data, the death toll in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has exceeded 3,900 people. According to Al Jazeera TV channel, the death toll on the Israeli side reached 1,300 people, and on the Palestinian side – exceeded 2,670.
