Maxim Liksutov, acting deputy mayor for transport, announced the possible extension of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) beyond the Moscow region, expanding them to other regions of Russia. He made this statement during a press conference on projects for the development of the capital’s transport infrastructure in 2023. The information is reported by RIA Novosti.
Liksutov noted that the modernization program of the Central Transport Hub provides for the expansion of the MCD to nearby regions adjacent to the Moscow region. If the program is approved by the government of the Russian Federation, all diameters will be extended. “We developed this program together with the Ministry of Transport, Russian Railways and the government of the Moscow region. The decision to implement the program must be made by the government,” he explained.
Among the regions to which the authorities intend to extend the MCD, Liksutov mentioned the Yaroslavl, Tula, Oryol, Kaluga, Ryazan regions and others.
Earlier in September, it was announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the fourth route of the MCD – Kaluzhsko-Nizhegorodsky, with a length of 86 kilometers.
