A memorial plaque will appear on the facade of school No. 87 in Omsk in honor of Alexei Yamshchikov, a participant in the special military operation, who died in combat. Omsk mayor Sergei Shelest spoke about this on Wednesday, December 13.
The politician said in his Telegram channel that he received the initiators of the installation of the board Denis Karplyuk and Alexander Ivannikov, as well as the head of the Leninsky district, the director of the education department and his deputies.
The meeting participants agreed that the competent authorities will help the comrades of the deceased Yamshchikov, who studied at school No. 87, install a memorial plaque in accordance with all norms and requirements.
Shelest also commented on the scandal on the Internet surrounding the installation of this board – thus, it was reported that a conflict arose between the school director and the initiators of perpetuating the memory of the deceased soldier. Administration of the educational institution allegedly contacted law enforcement agencies.
The mayor of Omsk emphasized that the school director does not have the authority to decide on the placement of memorial plaques. You need to contact the administration of your districts, the deputies of the Omsk City Council and the mayor, and the final decision is made by the toponymic commission.
