The water in Novaya Kakhovka will drop to its previous level within a “two or three days.” This was announced by the mayor of Novaya Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev, to special correspondent Olga Kurlaeva. His words are given in the Telegram channel of the administration of the Novokakhovka urban district.

“He drowns summer cottages and Tsyurupinsk with the Naked Pier. The maximum water rise is 12 meters. In these settlements there is no electricity and water, the inhabitants themselves left. The water will come down in a couple of three days, ”Leontiev said.

Later, in a conversation with reporters, the head of the city administration clarified that, according to forecasts, the water will drop to normal levels within 72 hours. “But we need to get through those 72 hours,” he added (quote according to TASS).

Leontiev explained that the hydroelectric power station was built in such a way that water is discharged gradually, “like from a bottle neck.” According to him, the turbine hall was damaged, which was the “target” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the year. The mayor of Nova Kakhovka clarified that there were no civilians at the station, the work, security and repairs were carried out by Russian military personnel.

Leontiev stressed that there is no threat of dehydration of the North Crimean Canal.

The Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was shelled on June 6 at about 2 am, informed Mayor of Nova Kakhovka Vladimir Leontiev. As a result, the Russian authorities started to the evacuation of people “from all flooded territories.” According to the mayor of the city, it is planned to take out the inhabitants of about 300 houses. The water is expected to drop to normal levels within 72 hours.

Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov declaredthat there is no threat of flooding in Crimea. At the same time, there is a risk of the North Crimean Canal becoming shallow, but there are “more than enough” water reserves in the region. According to him, the water reserves in the canal are about 40 million cubic meters. “Reservoirs, even those that were previously filled by 15-20%, currently have about 80% of filling,” Aksenov said.
