Chinese Foreign Ministry says most Asian countries do not support NATO expansion in the region
Most Asian countries oppose the spread of NATO influence in the region. This was stated by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Wenbin.
According to Wenbin, Asia is not part of the geographic boundaries of the North Atlantic, so there is no need to create an “Asia-Pacific version of NATO.”
The diplomat also stressed that some countries declare their freedom and openness, but in fact they are engaged in the formation of military blocs, and are also trying in every possible way to promote NATO to the Asia-Pacific region.
Earlier, representatives of Indonesia, Singapore and other countries made a presentation at the international conference “Shangri-La Dialogue”. They admitted that the Asia-Pacific states do not want to be forced to choose between China and the United States.
