The mayor of Chisinau, Ivan Ceban, proposed projects for the reintegration of Transnistria and Russian speakers
The mayor of Chisinau and leader of the National Alternative Movement party, Ivan Ceban, presented initiatives to integrate Transnistria and support the Russian-speaking population. He voiced this information during a meeting with the head of the OSCE mission in Moldova, Kelly Keiderling.
In his telegram channel, the head of the city announced a proposal for a number of humanitarian, cultural and educational projects that can be implemented at the level of the two capitals, starting with the “Days of Chisinau in Tiraspol”, “Days of Tiraspol in Chisinau” and ending with the involvement of residents of Transnistria in the programs for the development of small business, telemedicine and other educational projects developed in the capital of Moldova.
Ceban noted that the number of Russian-speaking residents in Chisinau exceeds their number in Transnistria, so city authorities should pay special attention to ethnic diversity when carrying out their activities. He expressed dissatisfaction with the government's policy on the integration of Transnistria. “We are at a dangerous stage in our relations with Tiraspol, partly caused by the actions of the Moldovan government,” the mayor emphasized.
Last year, Ceban announced the creation of a new pro-parliamentary party advocating European integration and standing in opposition to the dominant Action and Solidarity Party. In addition, in the same year he was re-elected as mayor of Chisinau. According to the results of several public opinion polls, Ceban is one of the three most popular politicians in Moldova.
