The manufacturer of equipment for the “sovereign Runet” is trying to get into the register of Russian software

The manufacturer of telecom equipment for the “sovereign Runet” company “RDP.ru” (Research & Development Partners – RDP) has filed an application for inclusion in the register of Russian software. The corresponding entry is on the registry website on June 26, 2023. In 2019, this company became one of the largest suppliers of Roskomnadzor (RKN): it develops traffic filtering equipment for the “sovereign Runet”.

The law on the “sovereign Runet” came into force on November 1, 2019. The goal was to create a system for centralized management of the national segment of the Internet and protect it from potential external threats and cyber attacks. It obliges telecom operators to install equipment on their networks, which will be provided by the ILV, in order to centrally manage traffic routing in the event of a threat to disconnect the Russian segment from the global network.
