The geomagnetic storm, which began on April 23 at about 15:00 Moscow time, again reached the G4 level, which corresponds to a very strong magnetic storm. This category is the fourth on a five-point scale.
From the data of the Solar X-Ray Astronomy Laboratory of the Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it follows that the power of the magnetic storm has reached a multi-year record. For the first time, it intensified to category 4 around 21:00 Moscow time, after which its power decreased to G3.
Powerful magnetic storms can interfere with radio frequency and satellite radio navigation.
Earlier it was reported that the northern lights as a result of a geomagnetic storm were observed, including in Moscow.
