VTsIOM: the level of support for SVO among Russians has increased to 68%
The All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Research (VTsIOM) conducted another survey in which it found out how many Russians support a special military operation in Ukraine. It turned out that 68% of respondents expressed support for the SVO. The result exceeded the 2022 figures by 3%.
“After the announcement of the start of a special military operation, the majority of Russians supported this decision – 65%; a year later, the figure increased to 68% and remains the same in 2024,” says the text published on the VTsIOM website.
In turn, 43% of respondents believe that the goals of the special operation are to protect Russia, disarmament of Ukraine, and also to prevent the deployment of NATO bases on its territory. At the same time, 20% are confident that the SVO is carried out to protect the population of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
In addition, 72% of Russians agree that every citizen should contribute to the successful completion of the SVO; the opposite position is held by 19% of the country’s respondents.
