According to Chernyshov, now such advice would also become “relevant and logical”, and events in the country are developing “exactly as Zhirinovsky said”: Russia is gradually moving towards abandoning the dollar. There are enough alternatives as a currency for international trade, he added.

Zhirinovsky led the LDPR party since 1990. He died on April 6, 2022 at the age of 75 after a severe and prolonged illness. After the death of Zhirinovsky, Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, was elected the new chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party.
