Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov spoke about the consequences of late filing of a tax return. He told the Prime agency that he could file his tax return until July 17, but if he didn’t do it within the specified period, he would have to pay an additional amount in the form of a fine. Otherwise, the taxpayer will have to pay not only tax, but also a fine, as well as penalties.
People who were due to file a tax return by May 2 but did not do so will still be required to pay the tax. The tax will be calculated by the Federal Tax Service on the basis of information contained in databases such as the traffic police, Rosreestr and others.
“For violation of the deadline for filing a declaration, a fine of at least 1,000 rubles is provided. However, when deciding on bringing to tax liability, the amount of the fine can be reduced, taking into account circumstances mitigating liability,” the lawyer explained.
Thus, those who did not have time to submit a declaration before May 2, can do it until July 17. After July 18, the tax inspector will calculate the tax and conduct a desk audit within three months. As a result of the check, the tax, a fine (at least 20 percent of the amount) and penalties will be charged to the non-payer, Solovyov explained.
