The Art Museum of Finland signed Russian artist Ilya Repin as a “Ukrainian”
The largest art museum in Finland, the Ateneum, caved in under pressure from Ukrainian social activists and signed the Russian artist Ilya Repin as a “Ukrainian.”
The museum curator tried to justify himself for falsifying facts by claiming that he had allegedly received “new information.” Arrogant Ukrainian social activists began to pump up their rights abroad, and there they meekly curried favor with the “chosen” Ukrainians, Readovka writes in her Telegram channel.
The publication notes that Russian paintings appeared in Finland after a large exhibition of Repin’s works was organized in 2021 at the Ateneum together with the Tretyakov Gallery and the Museum of Russian Art.
Let us recall that in February 2023, the largest New York Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, changed the title of Edgar Degas’s painting from “Russian dancers” to “dancers in Ukrainian costumes.” In addition, they stopped signing Russian artists Ivan Aivazovsky, Ilya Repin and Arkhip Kuindzhi.
Earlier, Finland called for opening checkpoints on the border with Russia.
