Space exploration does not happen without failures, therefore, in connection with the crash of Luna-25, it is important to analyze and eliminate the causes of failure, and not to tear your hair out, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters.
“We know that the exploration of outer space and the implementation of complex space programs are not without failures. This is not a reason to despair, to tear your hair out. This is another reason to analyze the causes and eliminate them next time,” he said.
The Kremlin considers it important to continue the Russian space program, including its lunar element. Russian President Vladimir Putin followed the progress of the mission, he added.
Roskosmos announced the crash of the Luna-25 mission on August 20. According to the head of the state corporation Yuri Borisov, the reason was that the propulsion system of the station, when trying to go into the pre-landing orbit, worked for 127 seconds instead of 84. The final causes of the accident are to be clarified by a special interdepartmental commission. The device was launched on the night of August 11 from the Vostochny cosmodrome.
Earlier, Borisov said that Luna-26 will go to the Earth’s natural satellite in 2027, and Luna-27 in 2028. The launch of Luna-28 is scheduled after 2030.
