The Kremlin confirmed the conversation between Scholz and Macron about Putin

Dmitry Peskov commented on the transcript of the conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, in which they say that Putin did not react at all to the sanctions imposed by the West after February 24, 2022.

“Let the French and Germans themselves discuss this publication. I can only confirm that Putin has never raised the topic of sanctions with the leadership of the countries that imposed these sanctions,” the Kremlin speaker said. He noted that now we see not “verbal” confirmation, but de facto data on the growth of our economy, its expansion, data from the World Bank on the entry of the Russian Federation into the group of economic leaders, and so on.

“Yes, indeed, Putin never spoke about sanctions with them,” Peskov stressed.

The transcript of the conversation was published by the Bild newspaper. When it took place is not known exactly. Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in particular, says about Putin: “What depresses me more than the negotiations: he does not complain at all about the sanctions. I don’t know if that was the case with you. But he didn’t mention sanctions at all.” Macron, in response, confirms that in a conversation with him, Putin also did not talk about the negative effect of the sanctions and did not mention them at all.
