Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to comment on reports of torture of those accused of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall after their arrest on March 23. Videos of torture were previously distributed on Telegram channels.
“I will leave this question unanswered,” said Dmitry Peskov when asked to comment on reports of torture of detainees. When asked why the involvement of the Islamic State, banned in Russia and recognized as a terrorist group, in the attack was not mentioned among the versions, he referred to the fact that the investigation was still ongoing.
Earlier, videos and photos of torture of people similar to the detainees appeared on social networks. At the hearing on choosing a preventive measure in the Basmanny Court, Rachabalizod Saidakrami appeared with his head wrapped in a rag. The accused, Muhammadsobir Fayzov, was brought to the courtroom from the hospital – he was at the hearing with a urine bag and in a hospital gown.
