Many CIS member countries still consider May 9 a holy day that must be celebrated, informed Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov to journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“May 9 is preserved as one of the main holidays for the peoples of the former Soviet Union, and many CIS member states still consider it a holy day that must be celebrated,” Peskov said.
He expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the states who arrived in Moscow this time to take part in the celebrations.
The start of the Victory Parade is scheduled for 10:00 Moscow time. Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend and deliver a speech. To Moscow will come Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. TASS, citing a source, reported that Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov would attend the parade.
