The Kremlin commented on Biden’s words about Xi Jinping

The fact that US President Joe Biden called Chinese President Xi Jinping a dictator shortly after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to Beijing speaks of the inconsistency and unpredictability of Washington’s policy. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“Of course, these are very contradictory manifestations of US foreign policy, which speak of a large element of unpredictability. Just days earlier, we saw information about the contacts of the US Secretary of State in Beijing, about such various conciliatory statements, and so on. And here is such an incomprehensible compensation for all actions by the head of state,” he said.

Peskov also considered Biden’s words a continuation of “mentoring manifestations” in US foreign policy, which many countries already consider unacceptable.

“However, this is their business. We have our bad relationship with the US and our very good relationship with China,” he added.

Speaking in California at a campaign fundraiser, the American leader declaredthat Xi Jinping was upset when a supposed Chinese “spy” balloon was blown off course over US airspace. “This is a big embarrassment for dictators. When they didn’t know what happened,” he said.

Blinken, on the second day of his visit to Beijing, June 19, held a 35-minute meeting with Xi Jinping. This reception, according to the Associated Press, symbolizes the success of Blinken’s trip to China – the first such visit since 2018. At the same time, the very fact of meeting with the Chinese leader remained in doubt until the last moment. Xi praised the outcome of the meeting with the US Secretary of State. “The two sides have made progress and reached agreement on some specific issues. It’s very good,” CNN quoted the Chinese leader as saying.
