The Kremlin agrees with the words of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu about the threat of a direct military clash between nuclear powers. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

“We absolutely agree with the words of the Minister of Defense,” he said.

During a speech at the 10th Xiangshan Forum in Beijing, Shoigu statedthat the Western policy aimed at “steadily escalating the conflict” with Russia carries the threat of a direct military clash between nuclear powers. According to him, such a scenario could result in “catastrophic consequences.”

On October 29, in an interview with ZDF, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in connection with the Ukrainian crisis and the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East expressed the opinion that “we need to get used to the idea that there may be a threat of war in Europe.”

Previously, Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized Western policy towards the Russian Federation and the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. The Kremlin pointed to the growing direct and indirect involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, Western countries, Russia and China have repeatedly emphasized that a nuclear war should never be unleashed, since there can be no winners in it.
