Peskov: events in Makhachkala were largely caused by outside influence

Dmitry Peskov said that yesterday’s events in Dagestan, where local residents stormed the airport to protest the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv, are in many ways external interference, “including informational influence.”
According to him, against the backdrop of terrible footage from the Gaza Strip, depicting the death of civilians, children and the elderly, it is very easy for ill-wishers to “abuse the situation, provoke and excite people.”
Peskov emphasized that Putin traditionally pays great attention to this topic; in particular, it was discussed at the president’s recent meeting with representatives of the main religious faiths.
The Kremlin speaker refrained from answering the question of how the Kremlin assesses the reaction and actions of local authorities to suppress unrest on ethnic grounds.
Earlier, the head of the republic, Sergei Melikov, said that the riots and protests against the Jewish population were provoked by Bandera’s supporters.
