Russia explained its reluctance to import Indian medicines through parallel imports

Russia refused to import drugs through parallel imports from India, as they are not safe and can have a significant impact on the health of citizens. This is how the Ministry of Industry and Trade responded to an appeal from State Duma Vice Speaker Vladislav Davankov.
The politician proposed purchasing medicines from India. This way Russia will be able to solve the problem of billions of rupees that cannot be taken out of the country for the sale of oil.
But the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted that India is already one of the main suppliers of medicines. In 2022 alone, Russia purchased medical supplies worth $567 million.
According to the source, the main problem with imports from India is low-quality goods. Of all foreign non-conforming medicines, half are made in India. A sharp increase in supplies could lead to negative consequences in the country.
