Stas Namin’s stepson, Roman Mikoyan (Novikov), could face a life sentence if there are sufficient grounds to find him accused. Lawyer Yuri Shel spoke about this, quoting Teleprogramma.pro.
According to the lawyer, if there is significant evidence, investigators will be able to apply for a preventive measure within two days for the possible murderer. “… He faces a threat under Art. 105, part 2, paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation from 8 to 20 years, up to life,” the specialist noted.
He also noted that Novikov could be sent for compulsory treatment if it turns out that he has mental problems. This will serve as a mitigating circumstance, Schel explained. The case will be considered completely differently if the defendant was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the lawyer added.
In any case, according to Shel, the process will be long, since the investigation will have to understand all the circumstances of the incident.
This is not the first crime of Namin’s stepson. In 2007, he ran over a woman in the south-west of Moscow, receiving a 2-year suspended sentence.
