Court of Cassation in Krasnodar canceled the verdict in the murder case due to a quarrel in the chat

The Fourth Court of Cassation in Krasnodar overturned the appeal ruling against Armen Melkonyan, who was found guilty of killing a man as a result of a quarrel in a parent chat, as well as his sister and her husband. This is stated in the court decision.

It is noted that the case was sent for a new trial to the Volgograd Regional Court.

“The Judicial Collegium determined: the appeal ruling of the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Volgograd Regional Court dated September 7, 2022 in relation to Melkonyan A.V., Smbatyan A.A. and Melkonyan A.V. cancel,” the statement said.

The court noted that the decision could be appealed to the Supreme Court of Russia.

In March 2022, a Volgograd court sentenced Melkonyan to 11 years in prison, his sister to five and a half years for instigation, and her husband to seven years for “attempt to cause grievous bodily harm.”
