Those detained on suspicion of an 8-year-old girl in the city of Kozelsk, Kaluga Region, named the main reason for the abduction. The Novikov family needed money for the treatment of one of their children.

As MK learned, we are talking about the 13-year-old son of Irina Novikova, who has only six children, including four minors. Irina gave birth to five children from her first husband, the youngest daughter from her second. Both spouses were detained as Irina’s accomplices. Both were previously convicted, as was Irina’s 56-year-old mother, who lived with them.

According to our data, Novikova’s son recently received a serious burn to the larynx and esophagus. He can only eat through a tube. The teenager needed urgent surgery, and the family decided to kidnap for ransom.

Now the detainees claim that they chose Zlata for the role of the victim by chance. They followed the girl for some time and then kidnapped her. The couple waited until the mother sounded the alarm and posted an announcement about the missing child on social networks, where she indicated her phone number. After that, they sent an SMS demanding ransom and threats. However, upon learning that the woman had reported to the police and there was a lot of noise, the criminals got scared and released the hostage.

The Novikovs’ two eldest children (they are 20 and 17 years old) stayed in the house in the village of Kasyanovo with their grandmother. She stated that she did not plan to live here any longer and would leave after selling all the animals. Three children are in a hospital in Kaluga, after which they will be transferred to a rehabilitation center. The youngest girl was placed in an orphanage. The grandmother, most likely, will not receive permission to obtain custody of her grandchildren, since she has a criminal record, and most likely she knew about the criminal plans of her relatives.
