The governor of the Ivanovo region, Stanislav Voskresensky, appointed the former head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Vladimir Bulavin as a senator from the region, reported press service of the regional government.

The head of the region signed a decree granting Bulavin the powers of a senator on September 19.

Voskresensky invited Bulavin to become a senator from the Ivanovo region on June 30. In the Federation Council, he will replace Valery Vasiliev, who has been a senator since 2011.

On September 19, Voskresensky officially took office as governor and took the oath of office. According to the results of the September elections, he gained 82.49%.

Bulavin took up the post of head of the Federal Customs Service on July 28, 2016. On February 10, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin relieved him of this post due to reaching 70 years of age. Bulavin was awarded the Orders “For Services to the Fatherland” II, III and IV degrees, Alexander Nevsky, “For Military Merit”, Honor, badges “Honorary Counterintelligence Officer”, etc.
