The IOC responded to the UK’s demand not to allow Russians to the 2024 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) commented on the British demand to prevent Russia from participating in the 2024 Olympics. The IOC urges London to respect the autonomy of sport, the IOC said in a statement.
They indicated that they took Britain’s letter into account, but it is not for the governments of other countries to decide who and in what competitions will take part.
“We very much hope that the British government will respect the autonomy of sport, which has been emphasized in many decisions, statements and resolutions of the UN,” the press service noted.
Previously reportedthat the British government has appealed to the largest sponsors of the Olympic Games in Paris with a call to put pressure on the IOC on the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
The Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
