Gadzhi Imanmurzaev himself does not admit guilt
Law enforcement agencies of Dagestan have identified the main suspects in inciting pogroms at the Makhachkala airport on the evening of October 29 in connection with the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv. On suspicion of organizing mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), 11 people were detained. No charges have been brought against them yet; all are detained under Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Most were captured in Makhachkala, one was caught on Thursday at Grozny airport while trying to fly out of Chechnya. He is suspected of beating a police officer.
In general, there were much more detainees – about 80 people, but most of them were brought to administrative responsibility, since they were of no real interest to the investigation. “These are young people who do not have any clear criminal background,” a source in the investigation explained to MK. “The majority are residents of Makhachkala, but there are also visitors from Kaspiysk.”
Investigators are much more interested in the instigators of pogroms. One of the detainees is a 52-year-old resident of the village of Manasket, Gadzhi Imanmurzaev.
The biography of the instigator is not particularly remarkable: he graduated from school in Manaskent, served in the border troops in Soviet times, worked for two years in one of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, then worked as a cash collector at the Manas oil depot and at a gas company in Makhachkala. At the same time, he graduated from the Law Academy. He is married and has four children. Since 2018, Imanmurzaev has not officially worked. Just the other day, however, Gadzhi got a job as a furniture assembler in a private company. But he worked there for only two days – the police came for Imanmurzaev straight to work.
It was not difficult to figure out Imanmurzaev. He himself appeared in the footage from the hall of the Makhachkala airport with a megaphone in his hands. That is why he is accused of organizing the riots. Gadzhi himself does not admit guilt. He has his own explanation for what happened.
As MK managed to find out, Imanmurzaev was at a wedding that Sunday evening. When he returned home, his blood pressure rose and he lay down to rest. But soon someone called Gadzhi, and he rushed to the airport.
“He had no intention of storming anything,” says the detainee’s daughter. “On the contrary, I urged the guys: there’s no need to break anything, let’s go to the airport director and we’ll talk calmly.”
How “good intentions” turned out, everyone remembers well even 10 days after the incident. Imanmurzaev returned home late, with a broken voice and very upset.
“Spoiled kids, they couldn’t stop them, they broke everything there,” he told his family. A few days later, Gadzhi was detained.
Of course, Imanmurzaev’s relatives do not believe that the man is guilty. They believe that he was slandered, and they obtained evidence against Gadzhi, let’s say, in not entirely correct ways. However, Imanmurzaev’s biography itself is dissonant with the image of a reconciliator. In 2010, he took part in the unrest – albeit on a much smaller scale. Then Gadzhi actively spoke at the rally for a fair (according to Protestants) distribution of land plots in the village of Paraul and the resignation of the local administration. That protest turned out to be a “surprise”: after fingerprinting of all participants in the rally, it turned out that Imanmurzaev’s “finger” coincided with a fingerprint from the scene of a domestic theft committed in Makhachkala four years earlier.
