The Institute of the History of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad will develop a textbook for schoolchildren. The head of the institute, Nikita Lomagin, told TASS that the anthology will be an addition to existing textbooks and will contain chapters on the Battle of Leningrad and the siege of the city during the Great Patriotic War.

According to Mr. Lomagin, the need to create such a textbook is explained by the fact that “very little is said about the war and the blockade in school textbooks.” “There are practically only a few pages about the blockade,” he said.

Nikita Lomagin noted that the anthology will become a “regional component” of school textbooks. After the textbook is released, the institute’s staff will instruct school teachers in one of the districts of St. Petersburg on how to present this topic to students.

Mr. Lomagin believes that the textbook will be of interest to study not only for students from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. “More than 50 regions received Leningraders, those who were evacuated, and this will also be useful and interesting for them,” noted the head of the institute.

Work on the training manual is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Nikita Lomagin noted that when creating the anthology, the institute’s staff will work with school methodologists.
