The number of coronavirus cases in Russia has doubled over the past four weeks, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova. According to her, the peak incidence depends on holidays, vacations and migration processes.
According to Ms. Popova, doctors do not observe a severe course of the “Pirola” variant of the coronavirus. “Although the first days are quite difficult, because the temperature is high, and, in general, there is a feeling of weakness and severe malaise, the headache is severe,” she clarified in an interview with Naila Asker-zade (quoted by TASS).
Anna Popova recalled that the “pyrol” variant has been circulating in the world for several months. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, 10 cases of infection with this subtype of COVID-19 have been reported.
Over the past week, the incidence of the virus in Russia grew by 31.7%. On November 8, the head of Rospotrebnadzor admitted that a new wave of COVID-19 cases had begun in the country. Gamaleya Center back in October stated about the loss of protection against coronavirus by the Sputnik V vaccine. A new version of the vaccine is currently being developed; it can enter civilian circulation only by March 2024.
