In the near future, many students of Russian schools will be able to play Russian bast shoes in physical education classes. This decision was made following a meeting of physical education teachers and coaches with the Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov and the Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin.

As Sergey Fokin, president of the Federation of Russian Bast Shoes, explained to MK, the organization of bast shoes will not require serious costs from schools. He noted that bast shoes can be played not only on the street, but also in the arena and in the gym. In particular, grounds for bast shoes can be placed on an ordinary school stadium measuring 120 by 75 meters: the ratio of the sides of the sites for regular and mini-lapta is 40 by 50 and 25 by 40 meters, respectively. Thus, two playgrounds can be organized on the school territory at once, while, the expert emphasized, they will need to be separated to the maximum distance so that the balls, if possible, do not fly from one to the other. Marking is applied with chalk, if possible – with paint. On the grass field, six flags arranged in a certain order are used for marking, and in the hall – 6 cones. In addition, you will need a table for referees, a megaphone, a scoreboard, a football referee’s flag.

In order to start classes, by the end of the year, specialists will have to develop an educational module on bast shoes. According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, to date, modules on swimming, football, hockey, rugby, sambo, judo, chess and others have been developed for schools, there are ten of them in total. Seven modules have been prepared this year, including badminton, fitness aerobics, mobile chess, triathlon, floorball (indoor bandy), and athletics. Plans for next year — climbing, biathlon, tennis, roller sports modules.
