The ICR investigator who falsified evidence in the Moscow City shooting case was jailed

He received 11 years in prison

On Monday, January 29, in the Zamoskvoretsky City Court, the verdict was announced to the former senior investigator of the capital’s main directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Levon Agadzhanyan.

Let us recall that the former law enforcement officer was accused of falsifying materials from the investigation into the circumstances of the shootout that occurred in 2017 in the OKO tower in Moscow City. As a result, one person was killed and five were injured.

According to the prosecution, the former investigator thereby wanted to provide a favor to businessman Gavriil Yushvaev, whose guards staged a shootout with the National Guard and employees of the private security company. The investigator tried to minimize the guilt of the initiator of the shootout, the head of Yushvaev’s personal security Magomed Ismailov, his actions were classified as hooliganism. To do this, Agadzhanyan included in the investigation materials information that Ismailov was only a guest of the party that took place in the restaurant of the OKO tower, that he did not guard his boss and did not give the order to open fire. He also asked one of the eyewitnesses to change his testimony, namely, to exclude from it the information that Yushvaev’s guards participated in the shootout. In addition, he destroyed or manipulated material evidence, including bullets extracted from the bodies of the deceased and wounded. According to his version, the victims were the guards.

During the debate between the parties, the prosecutor’s office requested 12 years in prison for the ex-investigation officer. The court sentenced him to 11 years in prison
