The peak of cold weather has passed in Moscow and the Moscow region, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia. From January 5th to 8th the temperature will be 14–23°C.
Temperatures in the capital region were 17–18°C below normal; now the anomalies will be 10–11°C. Saturday will be the warmest day, Sunday the coldest. “The peak of the cooling has passed, and small changes await us, but we can’t call it warming,” said Mr. Vilfand TASS.
On Friday, January 5, in Moscow the forecast is from -16 to -23°C, in the region – from -16 to -21°C. On Saturday afternoon in the capital it is expected from -18 to -20°C at night, from -14 to -16°C during the day, in the region – up to -27°C at night and up to -18°C during the day. On Christmas Day the frosts will get a little stronger again. In Moscow it will be from -22°C to -24°C at night and from -18 to -20°C, in the region – up to -27°C at night and up to -23°C during the day. In 2023, frosts on Christmas Day reached 23.5°C at night and 20°C during the day.
