Heavy precipitation is expected in the European part of Russia in the first half of the week, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, said. Ice is also forecast. On Thursday, a cold snap will return to Moscow.
“Everywhere in the European territory of Russia, the weather will be difficult in the first half of the week. The conditions will be especially difficult for motorists, because in addition to icy conditions, heavy precipitation is predicted, which will significantly worsen visibility, and roads will also narrow due to bad weather,” said Mr. Vilfand TASS.
A snowstorm with strong gusts of wind is predicted in the Vologda, Pskov and Novgorod regions. Heavy rain and wind will be in the Smolensk, Kaluga, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol regions. Heavy snow is expected in the Perm Territory, sleet and heavy precipitation in Tatarstan, rain and sleet in the Krasnodar Territory, and heavy rain in Crimea. According to Mr. Vilfand, “all these pleasures are connected with the release of the southern cyclone.”
Cooling is expected in the Moscow region in the second half of the week. This will lead to icy roads. Temperatures will begin to drop on Wednesday, dropping to -5°C is expected. From Thursday nights temperatures will drop to -10°C. Saturday afternoon is expected to be -5°C to -10°C.
