The Holy Fire from Jerusalem was brought to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior before the end of the patriarchal liturgy. This was reported by RIA Novosti correspondent from the scene.

The delivery of the Holy Fire to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and 11 churches in the capital is traditionally handled by the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation. The plane with the sacred lamp landed at Vnukovo-3 airport around 1 a.m. on April 16. He was taken to the main temple of Moscow at the very end of the Easter service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill.

The festive service was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Also, according to tradition, the temple was visited by the Apostolic Nuncio (diplomatic representative of the Pope) in Russia Giovanni d’Agnello and the head of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Russia, Archbishop Pavel (Paolo) Pezzi.
