The head of Tuva and the vice-speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation deal with the complaint of Tuvan servicemen from Donbass

The head of Tuva, Vladislav Khovalyg, and the Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from United Russia, Sholban Kara-ool, who previously headed the region, intend to look into the causes of the incident with Tuvan military personnel in the Donbass. They reported bullying by “people who called themselves military DNR (People’s Militia)”.

“I interrupt my business trip in Siberia and fly out to clarify the circumstances. The army is always order and discipline. Without humiliation of the human dignity of juniors and at the same time conscious obedience to commanders. Our warriors have always been diligent in learning and brave in battle,” said Mr. Kara-ool in his Telegram channel.

On February 5, a group of servicemen from the Republic of Tuva recorded a video message in Tuvan to the head of the region, Vladislav Khovalyg, Sholban Kara-ool, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. On the video – about 20 people in camouflage.

“On February 4, 2023, people came to us who called themselves the military of the DPR (people’s militia), their chief was Batya. They shot at us wherever they hit, forced us to do push-ups at gunpoint, told us that we would not leave here alive and that we belonged to the DPR. Being on the front line, in the event of a meeting with the military police of the DPR and after they were beaten, according to them, we are not soldiers of the Russian Federation, ”the appeal says, in particular (translation provided by Kommersant-Siberia press service of the government and the head of Tuva). In addition, according to the authors of the video message, due to problems with the status of the wounded from among the Tuvan military personnel, they were not admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The head of Tuva sent his representatives to the Donbass, including Timur Kuular, special representative of the head of the republic for the NVO. In addition, Mr. Khovalyg is preparing an appeal regarding the incident to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
