Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev held a meeting of the State Anti-Drug Committee. During the meeting, he said that the production of synthetic drugs continues to grow in the country. At the same time, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, supplies of controlled substances from abroad are declining.

“The downward trend in the supply of controlled substances from abroad continued. At the same time, the growth in the volume of domestic production of “synthetics” in the conditions of clandestine drug laboratories continued. A similar picture is observed in the current year. The number of crimes related to the manufacture of prohibited substances detected only by police officers increased by 6.5%,”— leads press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the words of Mr. Kolokoltsev.

The Minister noted that in 2022, in general, the situation with drugs in Russia remained stable. The number of offenses suppressed by the internal affairs bodies related to the promotion of prohibited substances almost doubled last year.

“Last year alone, the number of decisions taken by Roskomnadzor to block resources containing information on the distribution of drugs increased by 20%. As a result, access to 83,000 sites and individual web pages was closed,” he specified.

At the same time, Vladimir Kolokoltsev noted that the current sanctions for the dissemination of prohibited information are insufficient. To strengthen the restrictions, it is necessary to amend Russian legislation. “Now the execution of the order of the President of the Russian Federation on establishing criminal liability for drug propaganda on the Internet is at the final stage,” he said.

This is a bill that contributes amendments to Art. 230.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on propaganda of illegal circulation and consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The amendment provides for a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles, correctional labor or imprisonment for up to two years. Criminal punishment is proposed to be introduced for those who have previously been involved in a similar offense. May 30 bill was approved State Duma in the first reading.
