Firefighters managed to localize nine out of 13 fires operating in the Kurgan region, said the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Alexander Kurenkov. Of the nine fires that threatened the settlements of fires, six were localized.

Mr. Kurenkov flew around the territory of the region with the governor of the region Vadim Shumkov and the head of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations Yuri Zemlyansky. “They flew over the areas where the most difficult situation developed. 1,290 people and 332 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing fires, as well as aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which dropped 165 tons of water on the fires.

Alexander Kurenkov arrived to the Kurgan region today, May 8. In the region due to fires died at least three people destroyed over 40 buildings. Fires began in several regions of the Urals Federal District.
