The head of the Republic of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, said in his Telegram channel that the day before, the head of the Maykop training aviation regiment, Colonel Vadim Gurov, died in the crash of an L-39 plane.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that an L-39 aircraft crashed during a landing approach in the Krasnodar Territory during a training flight. But the name of the deceased pilot was not called.
“For many years he headed one of the military units of the Maykop garrison,” Kumpilov said of the deceased pilot, adding that Gurov took part in the military operation in Syria and in the special military operation in Ukraine.
He called Gurov a competent and experienced officer and wise commanders and expressed his condolences to his family and friends.
The L-39 “Albatross” combat training aircraft was created in Czechoslovakia in the late 60s of the last century. It was the main training aircraft of the member countries of the Warsaw Pact.
