Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of the Russian long-range aviation carried out scheduled patrols over the neutral waters of the Sea of ​​Japan, reported Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“The flight was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace,” Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash, commander of long-range aviation, commented on the patrol.

The flight duration exceeded six hours, the missile carriers were accompanied by Su-30SM and Su-35S fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Last week, two Russian Tu-160 strategic missile carriers held scheduled eight-hour flight over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean.

Earlier in July Tu-95MS made a scheduled flight near the western coast of Alaska over the neutral waters of the Bering Sea, and in June – above Barents and Norwegian seas.

The Tu-95MS strategic missile carrier is designed to destroy the most important targets in remote areas and deep behind enemy lines using nuclear missile weapons. The crew of one aircraft consists of seven people.
