The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry recalled the humiliating reception in the United States

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó shared his memories of the beginning of his work at the Foreign Ministry. In an interview with the Mandiner portal, he told how, during his visit to the United States, local politicians tried to push through the Hungarian leadership and change legislation to suit their interests.
Szijjártó recalled his meeting with Victoria Nuland, who at that time served as US Assistant Secretary of State. The diplomat said she threw him a two-page document. There, mandatory demands were signed on the part of Washington for the further development of bilateral relations. Among them are changes to the Constitution, church rules, and the law on media. The minister replied that such conditions were impossible. “From that moment on, it became clear that the Democrats were not ready for any cooperation with us,” Szijjarto said.
The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry also noted that, on the contrary, correct relations based on mutual respect have always been maintained with the Republicans, which the Democrats do not like. In particular, they are not happy that Donald Trump regularly cites the actions of the Hungarian Prime Minister as a positive example for a politician.
