The chairman of the committee for education, science and youth policy of the Volgograd region, Larisa Savina, in a conversation with MK, commented on media reports about the refusal of a teacher in one of the schools in the region to be a class teacher for children who come from the CIS countries and practically do not speak Russian.

Earlier, V1.ru reported that the leadership of the school in the village of Aeroport last academic year united migrant children with poor knowledge of the Russian language into one class in order to make it easier to teach them and integrate them into the school community. The publication states that “In fact, she was the only Russian-speaking person in the class and was supposed to help foreign students learn the language.”

In the new school year, the teacher reportedly decided to drop the class.

“MK” contacted the leadership of the education committee of the Volgograd region and it turned out that the situation looks a little different.

Larisa Savina stated that the situation was “described incorrectly” in the publication. “The teacher didn’t leave the school,” she said.

According to Savina, the teacher who worked with the class of migrant children was the class teacher in two classes.

The head of the committee also noted that the teacher was “very upset” that the situation was presented in the light that she allegedly abandoned the children.

“The teacher who worked with them last year did a lot for the children,” Savina said. — The educational process was very well organized. It was difficult for them, they were first-graders, they did not speak the language. And an individual plan was developed especially for them, the children made progress.”

In addition, according to Savina, students were supported in any situations that arose. “If the parents didn’t understand something, the school worked out everything very professionally,” she said.

And in the future, according to the interlocutor, “for the guys, the educational process will in no case be interrupted, they are the same full-fledged students, on the contrary, everything has been done to ensure that they integrate faster.”

This year the class will have a new leader. He has already adopted children.

“The teacher who took the class is experienced, of the first category,” said Larisa Savina. “The line of teaching children according to an individual plan, socialization, inclusion in the socio-cultural context will be continued.”

She also said that parents were informed about this in advance, and there were no objections at the school line on September 1.
