The head of the Constitutional Court (CC) of Russia, Valery Zorkin, believes that the establishment of “enclaves”, which were created along ethnic and religious lines, may lead to trends towards political, economic and state disintegration.
“The problem of ethnocultural tensions also poses a potential danger… The collapse of the Soviet system of supra-ethnic integration led to the fact that all previously suppressed interethnic contradictions came to the surface,” Zorkin said.
He emphasized that the result was a series of ethnocultural interethnic conflicts, and in some cases wars on Russian territory.
In addition, according to him, there are cases of “ethno-confessional enclavization” in places of compact residence of representatives of certain regions.
